February 9, 2022

Dental procedures have increased in recent times with growing awareness about dental health and also for aesthetic reasons. The advancements in dental procedures such as material use, resemblance to natural teeth, functionality, and quality of dental implants from right dentists have greatly helped the recent dental procedures rise. You can choose from different dental procedures that are very common and immensely increase the quality of life.

Root canals

Root canal dental procedure involves operative procedures that relieve you from tooth problems. The root canal is performed on you when the tissue on the inside of your tooth gets infected, further leading to inflammation. The inflammation causes pain. Different reasons for the delay of the internal tissue and inflammation remain the repeated dental treatments, deeper decay, misaligned tooth crowns, fractured teeth exposing part of the inner tissue, and some form of direct injury while chewing. Ignoring the pain and decay will cause pus and abscess to form, leading to erosion of bone surrounding the tooth, which is very painful. Although root canal is a general procedure, it comprises restorative measures like the dental crown to protect the teeth, and you may require preventive dental checkups periodically.

Dental fillings

The dental filling is one of the more common preventive and restorative dental procedures. The procedures prevent more common dental issues such as gum disease, cavities, and enamel wear and tear, which lead to more serious dental problems. In this procedure, the dental team investigates your teeth structure with the help of a digital X-ray. Digital X-ray allows seeing beyond regular visual examinations, helping observe difficult locations such as jaw joints and in-between teeth. White composite and silver are some of the popular teeth filling materials.

Dental crown

A dental crown is one well-known restorative procedure. It involves covering the problem tooth to avoid further damage and strengthen the teeth after a root canal procedure. You can opt for the dental crown made up of different materials like porcelain, metals, or a mix of both. A flat foundation is necessary to fix the cap properly. The tooth is either filed to the desired level to create an even tooth surface or filled with material if the damaged teeth have deeper cavities and larger chippings. You are given a temporary crown till the new real one of your choice of material is developed. You are given anesthesia during the procedure and have to visit a few times to finish the process. The crown is manufactured either digitally or traditional method by the dental technician. It takes about two weeks to manufacture the crown after obtaining the impression. Decorative crowns made of precious metals like gold are getting popular among a set of celebrities and affluent people for aesthetic purposes.

Orthodontic

The orthodontic procedure is the corrective procedure to align your teeth’ position. It helps improve the overall appearance of your jawline, smile and maintain long-term dental health. Misaligned, crooked, and prominent teeth protruding outside or inside the mouth can cause inconvenience impacting your health and confidence. The problem affects people of every age and is more noticeable in the younger generation.

The corrective procedure involved observing your teeth by taking a dental X-ray to understand the extent of correction required. Your teeth structure helps decide the necessary procedure. The first procedure is restorative that may or may not require tooth extraction to align the teeth. Many times crowded teeth need a tooth extraction to create some space for better alignment. Braces are the second option. There are several types of braces available currently. Invisalign is one of the more popular brace options as it is almost invisible and uses patented technology to align teeth. Invisalign is also removable. Traditional braces also offer similar corrections. However, the metal and rubber construction intrudes on the aesthetic notion of some people. Traditional braces are ideal for children and teenagers as the teeth and jaw structure is still developing. Hence, it is easier to align and attempt more prominent corrections.

Laser dental procedure

Laser dental procedure is one of the newer and effective methods. It is not only very safe but also exceedingly comforting and is beneficial for both children and adults. FDA-approved laser procedures comprise hard tissue lasers and soft tissue lasers. The hard tissue laser procedure works on teeth and bone structure, while the soft tissue laser use is limited to more delicate parts such as gums and tissues around the teeth structure. The soft tissue laser penetration facilitates the sealing of the nerve endings during the procedure. As a result, you experience almost no postoperative pain. Other benefits of laser dental procedures are less bleeding, no anesthesia in some operatives, minimizing infections and damage to the tissues, and faster healing.
