How to Improve the Curb Appeal of Your Property

February 8, 2022

A lot of care and attention can be put on the interior of your property, especially if you’re planning to increase its market value if you’re looking to sell. However, you may be wondering about a kitchen or bathroom improvement while not giving much thought to the outside of your property.

However, curb appeal is extremely important. After all, the exterior of your property is the first thing potential buyers are going to see when they arrive for an official viewing. Or, if you have interested parties deciding to drive by before committing to a viewing, they’re going to make a judgment based on the exterior of your property alone.

With this in mind, looking to improve the curb appeal of your property is a worthy goal — and here’s how.

Keep it Tidy

It may sound an obvious one, but even the smallest overgrowth of a lawn area or clutter around your door can give the wrong impression. You don’t even need to concentrate on any attractive features or extra investment when it comes to tidiness, and it’s simply about keeping everything cleaned and maintained. This way, your property will appear in its best condition and be appealing to the eye.

So cut back any bushes, keep your front door and front windows clean and keep your lawn short. If you have paving instead of lawn, be sure to keep it clean (and power washing can make all the difference).

Consider Installing a Porch

Porches can completely transform the front of your property, the area around your front door and also provide a completely useable feature for you while you’re still living there. Porches help to protect your property while also providing comfortable and attractive extra space you can utilize. Considering an open-air porch or a screened porch can be ideal for adding curb appeal, and it’s also a significant feature that is visible and practical.

Use Plants and Flowers

Plants and flowers help to bring an otherwise plain doorway and front space to life. They add flashes of color and greenery to promote an attractive space. They can also be used to help frame key features, such as using hanging baskets or window boxes to frame your windows and tall shrubs to frame your front door.

If you have the potential to make a front garden a riot of color, this will always add appeal.

If you prefer the minimalist approach, even just a few plants will make the front of your home look a lot different.

Paint Your Front Door

You can either do this as a choice to provide an eye-catching and bright feature or simply tidy up your existing door color. Using bold color tones like reds or greens will help your property stand out from the rest and provide a focal feature.

If you’re not a fan of bright colors, simply making sure that your front door is clean with a fresh coat of paint means it’s more appealing to potential buyers.
